Conservation and Restoration
Conservation and restoration of traditionally built structures is one of the main areas of our business. With many years of experience using traditional materials and techniques we have a great understanding of what it takes to restore an old property to its former splendour whilst being respectful to its history and the original craftsmen that created it.
We are proud to have worked on many listed and heritage properties within and around Exmoor National Park as well as further afield. Our previous projects include grade II listed cottages, town houses, farm houses and outbuildings as well as listed gardens and garden structures. Working closely with architects and conservation officers we make sure that the stonework side of your build fully complies with all of the listing requirements.
At C.F. Kingston and Sons we take great pleasure in working with traditional materials and methods. If required we are able to complete the whole project using traditional hand tools only or use modern equipment where appropriate. As the majority of conservation and restoration projects involve using lime products to either repair existing mortar, to repoint or to rebuild stonework with, we can give advice on the most suitable products and materials for your build ensuring it will be long lasting, durable and in keeping with the original structure. We are able to reuse pre-existing stone or if needed can source and match the most suitable type for your build. By working closely with local quarries and suppliers we ensure the quality of materials used.
Depending on your project we are able to work as a main contractor or subcontractor. We offer competitive rates and can provide free quotations on request.
Please contact us to discuss your project and arrange an on-site consultation.
